The famous German Autobahns 🙂 One of the safest and the best made highways in the world.
(WIKI)The German autobahns form the nationally coordinated motorway system in Germany. In German, they are officially called Bundesautobahn (plural Bundesautobahnen, abbreviated ‘BAB’), which translates to “federal expressways”. German autobahns have no general speed limit, but the advisory speed limit (Richtgeschwindigkeit) is 130 kilometres per hour (81 mph).(WIKI)
German autobahns are an engineering marvel of road surface construction. They are unbelievably well maintained and smooth. They are all made of asphalt / tarmac and are one of the thickest layered roads built by any country which has asphalt freeways.
Here are some of the picture while I had a chance to be on the autobahn:
Unlike popular belief, autobahns were planed and constructed from 1920 though they became insanely famous after the Nazi took over Germany. Credit to them for planning and expanding the network making it the first limited-access, high-speed road network in the world.
