Just after the snow had receded in Munich last year, we went for a short hike to Andechs near Munich. Andechs Abbey is famed for its flamboyant Baroque church (1712) and its brewery. The Andechs Brewery is well-known for its high-quality beer.
It is a quiet little place to go for a nature walk/hike. It takes around 1 hour to reach the Abbey.
It was cold but the skies were clear after a long time. It is really nice to not hear the sounds of the city once in a while
The trail was a mixture of rolling hills and through some foliage. It was time for spring but the small forest still had trees with brown leaves.
There is a nice place to sit (indoors and outdoors) in the Abbey to enjoy the food and beer of coarse.
Inside the Abbey. Breathtaking art and architecture
On the way back we took a different route back to the parking lot. I can say it a million times “Bavaria is beautiful”.
We took a pit stop at the Ammersee at Herrsching. I had my mandatory hot chocolate. The lake was partially frozen.
We ended the day at one of the peers which was still non-operational due to winter.
To go to Andechs take the S-Bahn to S8 Herrsching. Don’t pack food, you will have lot of options there.
Don’t carry a heavy backpack as some places on the trail are quiet steep.
